ANTHURIUM ANTURIO O CALA

El género Anthurium es un gran género neotropical de cerca de 600 - 800 especies, llamadas comúnmente anturios o calas. Inicialmente se descubrió en Costa Rica. Es originario de las zonas tropicales y subtropicales de America Central y América del Sur.

Es el género más grande y probablemente más complejo de esta familia. Muchas especies no se han descrito todavía y se encuentran nuevas cada año. Es el único género perteneciente a la tribu Anthurieae.

Son plantas perennes, herbáceas o leñosas, erectas, rastreras o trepadoras, de hojas muy decorativas. Las hojas son de consistencia y grosor notables, ovales, en forma de corazón o punta de flecha, bastante grande, a veces divididas en lóbulos o incluso en forma de mano. El espádice, que a menudo se confunde con la flor del anturio, constituye el elemento de mayor curiosidad: puede ser rojo, purpúreo, verde manzana, rosa intenso, casi anaranjado, blancas, negras y amarillos que son muy difíciles de conseguir. Son llamativas y su tamaño varía según su especie.

They are perennial, herbaceous or woody plants, erect, creeping or climbing, very decorative leaves. The leaves are remarkable consistency, thick oval, heart-shaped or arrowhead, quite large, sometimes divided into lobes or even a hand. The spadix, which is often confused with anthurium flower, is the element of greatest curiosity may be red, purple, apple green, hot pink, almost orange, white, black and yellow which are very difficult to obtain.
